Limericks

There was a young man from St Ives,
Whose limericks stopped at line five.
  Quoth he, "It is true,
  "My style is not new.
"But 'tis the scheme in which I scribe."

There was a young man from Balmore,
Whose limericks stopped at line four.
  But because his verse
  Was ever so terse,

There was a young man from Swansea,
Whose limericks stopped at line three.
  You'd never find out,

There was a young man from Peru,
Whose limericks stopped at line two.

There was a young man from Verdun.
